Bauchi State Gender Policy specifically focuses and seeks to give direction on how to address issues of women, men, boys and girls in the formulation, design and implementation of government policies and programs. The policy therefore takes into cognizance the heterogeneous and complex nature of the environment and group dynamics and hence provided a comprehensive framework to accommodate gender needs of all social groups. The overall goal of the policy is to lay the guidelines that will lead to building a just and equitable society devoid of discrimination, promote opportunities for self-actualization and harness the full potentials of all. The philosophy of gender and social inclusion as enshrined in Islam and Christianity as the two dominant religions in the State was adopted as the philosophical basis of the policy that is informed and guided by the principle of commitment to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women, boys and girls through broad based and multi-sectoral gender responsive interventions that are people centered and community-driven. It will further consolidate on the broad-based partnerships, and promote dialogue through wide spectrum of consultations and effective coordination.
